Shoot for A's and B's in all of your classes - Doing well in all your classes improves your chances of passing the UBSCT, graduating from high school, getting into college, and will also help with college entrance exams, such as the ACT and/or SAT.
If you're having trouble with a particular subject, make sure you reach out for help from your teachers, parents, and school guidance counselors.
Read at least 30 minutes a day, above and beyond what you have to do to study and do homework.
Talk to your School Guidance Counselor about the following:
- Going to a college or university
- Mapping your career interests with courses in middle school and high school
- Planning out college preparatory and graduation coursework for grades 9-12
- Creating a 4-Year Plan to meet high school and college course requirements
- Honors, AP, Concurrent Enrollment, and IB course options to begin earning college credit, while still in high school
Now is the time to start thinking about what extracurricular activities (i.e., sports, student government, peer leadership, community service, performing arts and clubs) you would like to be involved in. Most colleges and their scholarship programs are interested in what else you like to do and excel in, besides going to school.
