8th Grade College Prep Timeline

Introduction 8th Grade 9th Grade 10th Grade 11th Grade 12th Grade

Students:

Take Challenging & Academically Rigorous Courses

Shoot for A's and B's in all of your classes - Doing well in all your classes improves your chances of passing the UBSCT, graduating from high school, getting into college, and will also help with college entrance exams, such as the ACT and/or SAT.

If you're having trouble with a particular subject, make sure you reach out for help from your teachers, parents, and school guidance counselors.

Read at least 30 minutes a day, above and beyond what you have to do to study and do homework.

Talk to your School Guidance Counselor about the following:

Now is the time to start thinking about what extracurricular activities (i.e., sports, student government, peer leadership, community service, performing arts and clubs) you would like to be involved in. Most colleges and their scholarship programs are interested in what else you like to do and excel in, besides going to school.
